The signing of the 18-year-old goalkeeper during the summer transfer window in 2016 was taken with surprise, but that was not the last one for Vladislav in his Dynamo career.
After the training camp in Sokolka and a couple of friendlies, the coaching board decided to select the untested youngster for the starting squad for the game against League’s leaders BATE. Kuzhal made his Highest League debut for Dynamo Brest on Borisov Arena, but it was frustratingly short – on the 16th minute of the game an unfortunate goalkeeper’s error led to one on one situation that was stopped by a professional foul. The referee decided to send off the young debutant and appoint a penalty kick on top.
“I was really surprised and amused when the Head Coach announced the first squad for the game. We were desperate to win and to make a flying start of the second half of the championship, but some things went wrong” – summarized Kuzhal after that game. “Everybody supported me. The lads told that failures happen sometimes and I have to learn from mistakes and gain experience. I just need to move on and keep my head high”.
When it rains, it pours: in the end of October Vladislav seriously damaged his hand and was ruled out until the end of the season-2016. The player spent one month in a cast and started to gain his conditions.
According to the goalkeeper’s words, he even had to sacrifice his vacation: “The main point is that everything knitted perfectly. The vacation is near, but I will not enjoy it. I had enough time for psychological and physical recovery during first two weeks after the injury, when the doctor prescribed me an absolute rest”.
Everything is done to start a new season in a good shape and help the team in reaching the goals.
