Belarus football national team has recently completed its performance in the 2020/2021 UEFA Nations League. The main team in the country ended second in the group having 10 points. Let’s recall the brightest moments of the matches and we are going to tell you how our players distinguished themselves on the field.
On November 11 the White Wings played a friendly match away against Romania. The match was won 5:3 by the host team. Experts note that the defeat was due to the fact that the coaching staff of our national team introduced a rather unusual starting line-up, and from the very beginning of the match it wasn’t their finest time. The Romanian team took the lead and scored the first goal in the 11th minute. The scored every 10 minutes in the first half. The score was 4:0 when the teams went into halftime. In the second half, after the 5th goal in our net, Mikhail Markhel started making substitutions. As a result, the Belarusians were able to score three times. There could have been more goals, but Yevgeny Yablonsky missed a penalty. In this tense match, Kirill Pechenin played the entire 90 minutes on the field, Roman Yuzepchuk came on in the 46th minute, and Denis Laptev played 62 minutes.
On November 15, the Belarus national team faced Lithuania at home and won the encounter 2:0. Both goals were scored in the first half. Roman Yuzepchuk played the entire match, received a yellow card in the 24th minute, and did not get any points. On November 18, our team played their final match in the 2020/2021 UEFA Nations League. The White Wings played away against Albania. The hosts won the meeting 3:2. This allowed the Albanians to take the first place in the group and get promoted to League B. Roman Yuzepchuk played the whole match and gave an assist. Kirill Pechenin and Denis Laptev appeared on the field in the 46th and 77th minutes of the match. Sergey Ignatovich remained on the bench. Thus, next season the national team will play the FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifiers. The draw take place in early December.
